PASSPORT RENEWALS​

Renewals

Children under age 16 are not eligible to renew passports.  They must reapply for a passport in person with two parents or guardians.  Passports for children under age 16 are valid for 5 years. 

The following are required for the application process: 

  • Completed DS-11 form 
  • U.S. Citizenship Evidence for the child 
  • Evidence of Parental Relationship 
  • Identification for both parents 
  • 2” x 2” passport photo – photo services are available in UGA Passport Services
  • Two separate forms of payment – (1) Personal check or money order made payable to the U.S. Department of State (2) Personal check, money order, or debit/credit card for fees payable to the University of Georgia

Many passports can be renewed by mail.  You will renew your passport by mail, if you can answer “yes” to ALL 4 statements below.  If you answer “no” to any statement, you must apply for a new passport in person. 

  1. You have your passport in your possession to submit with your application. 
  2. Your passport is undamaged other than normal wear and tear. 
  3. Your passport was issued when you were 16 year of age or older. 
  4. Your passport was issued within the last 15 years. 
  5. Your passport was issued in your current name or you can document your name change.
