Miss University of Georgia Outstanding Teen 2016
Chandler Sherry is the 16-year-old daughter of Kevin and Lee Ann Sherry of Marietta, Georgia. A junior at George Walton Comprehensive High School, she has two brothers, one of whom attends UGA in the Warnell School of Forestry.
Chandler’s high school accomplishments include serving as her high school’s Student Government Association representative for 2014-2016 and as a Walton High School Ambassador, Gridiron Girl, Fragile Kids Foundation ambassador, Dickerson Yearbook staff-chairman and first-chair violinist in Walton High School Sinfonia Orchestra. She has also performed in a number of High School drama and musical productions.
Chandler has performed more than 500 hours of community service in four years, including serving as chair for Children’s Miracle Network’s National Day of Service, collecting more than $1,000 for Girls Giving Girls Gems and raising more than $10,000 for Birthday Bash Baskets with her Student Government Association.
One of the most important goals in Chandler’s life is serving her community through volunteering. She serves an ambassador for the “Special Kids Deserve Special Birthdays” program with the Fragile Kids Foundation. She has shipped more than 1,000 birthday baskets to deserving kids and more are on the way. She wants to expand the program to include local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. Chandler’s goal is to make sure these special needs children have an extra special birthday.
Chandler will represent the University of Georgia in the Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen Pageant in June in Columbus, Georgia.
